This is a quick science lesson about losing body fat. To lose body fat you have to understand glycogen and glucose storage. Glucose is a energy source and is also known as blood sugar. Glycogen is the storage of glucose (blood sugar) and is used as a secondary fuel source. Glycogen is stored in the liver or in the muscle. Glucose in the blood at high levels tells the body and the pancreas to produce insulin. This insulin takes the glucose and metabolize it to be stored as fat, if not used as fuel. Fat cells storage of glucose is a primary fuel source to the human body. There are other fuel sources that the body can use, but this one is the one that determine the percent body fat your body maintain. Learning how to manipulate this process will increase your chance of losing body fat, while holding on to lean muscle.
