Different protein needs, for different people.

Different populations and different body types need different amounts of protein. An extremely lean athlete, or dieting to achieve a very low percent body fat or a person who is heavily overweight or obese, should consider calculating your protein requirements according to your lean body mass, not total body weight. In the case of the athlete and the lean dieting athlete, the amount of protein that they may consume can be significantly higher than the lean body mass calculation. Protein consumption should be based on the individual. Understanding your macro and micro-nutritional requirements is not set by any standards.
